Let’s work together to create a safer Market

We are committed to making Fall 2020 High Point Market safer for all of our exhibitors, staff, buyers, and other attendees. That’s why we have changed to a 9-day, 3-period format, with periods assigned by region. That’s why we’re increasing our cleaning and sanitation efforts, and will do everything required to ensure proper social distancing and safe operation. And that’s why we’re asking you to join us in this commitment. All of these efforts will be critical elements in creating a safe and welcoming environment.

To assure buyers that their Market visits will be safe, we are asking all building owners / managers, and exhibitors to commit to:

Enhanced cleaning protocols
Promote social distancing
Limit capacity within space
Monitor staff health
Wear face coverings

Do not open to buyers before 8am, Oct. 13

Market dates are Oct 13-21. Do not allow anyone other than staff and service providers to enter your showroom before 8am, Tuesday, Oct 13.

Set appointments

This is the best way to ensure a successful Market at any time. Right now, it is critical for managing your showroom traffic to ensure proper social distancing.

Hold all product distribution decisions

To allow buyers who must arrive in a later period an opportunity to source all of your products, do not make any distribution decisions until after the last day of Market, October 21, 2020.

All buildings and exhibitors should use these guidelines when creating their own safety plans for Fall Market. If you are an exhibitor who leases your showroom space, please contact your building owner for safety plans that may be specific to your building.

How your buyers will choose when they’ll be here

We must meet State of North Carolina standards for safe operation
To make sure your representatives will be available to meet their customers while limiting the number of staff you must keep in your showrooms, we have worked with the International Home Furnishings Representatives Association (IHFRA), to separate domestic buyers and industry guests into two regions, based on the home state of their company headquarters. The Market periods they may attend are determined by this assignment:

Region A includes companies whose corporate offices are in the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SD, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY

Region B includes companies whose corporate offices are in the following states: AL, AR, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX

Your assistance is critical
This plan was supported by HFA, AHFA, and IHFRA as meeting the needs of buyers, exhibitors, and sales representatives. To make it as effective as possible, please:

  1. Do not admit anyone other than your staff and service providers to your showroom before 8am on Tuesday, October 13.
  2. Do not make any distribution decisions until the end of Market after all regions have had a chance to attend and view products.
  3. Staff your showroom according to the regions outlined above, to ensure your buyers can meet with their correct sales reps.
