Make it easy for media to like you
A well-done press kit makes you irresistible
If you’ve never created a press kit that the media will find useful, don’t worry. It’s a fairly simple exercise. For the beginner, it’s a good idea to take the time to watch the video produced by industry pros. The link below will provide pro tips and insider information that tells you exactly what reporters and editors use – and don’t use – when they’re working with press kits.
The media reveal how to attract the attention your company deserves
We surveyed the media and the results are in: Press kits are important and product drives their interest. They want photographs, they want details. More than 80% of respondents deemed product images absolutely essential to a proper press kit. Nearly 72% said they are also looking for product details. And don’t forget the digital media. An overwhelming 62% of respondents prefer a mixed-format press kit. Give them hard copies of all information as well as everything stored on a thumb drive or by providing a link where assets can be accessed digitally.
Getting your press kits to Market for coverage
On-site MediaLink exists to serve members of the media who come to Market. Among its many services, MediaLink makes your press kits easily available in one central location. If you would like Media Link to distribute your press kit, follow a few simple suggestions:
As a rule of thumb, a minimum of 50 press kits is recommended for smaller companies. Larger companies should produce about 100. All press kits arriving by 5pm on October 11 will be displayed in alphabetical order in the MediaLink. Press kits received after the deadline will be placed as close to alphabetical order as possible. Leftover kits will be returned to you only if you supply a FedEx account number. You may also pick up leftover kits from the MediaLink between 7am and 5pm on Wednesday, October 17. We recycle all abandoned kits.
